"You’re invited!" These are powerful words. A good invitation has the ability to honor a person based on their particular gifts, their particular role, or because they are truly wanted. Christ’s invitation to us does all of those things. As a leader in the church, part of your role is to extend Christ’s invitation to others – a powerful duty and a beautiful gift. Christ’s invitation draws us together, nourishes us, and equips us for ministry and the proclamation of Christ’s peace to the world. The Office of Special Offerings hopes to support you in extending that invitation. As we approach World Communion Sunday, take advantage of the daily reflections during A Season of Peace, as well as the encouraging stories of congregations and church partners who are accepting the invitation to make peace in their neighborhoods and around the world, and extending it to others. May the peace of Christ be with you, "at all times, in all ways." (2 Thess. 3:16)

Connecting the Special Offerings to Matthew 25

The Special Offerings of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) offer the whole Church a way to embody Matthew 25 through the Spirit-inspired stories and gifts which place us in partnership with others. Over the past two years, our work has been informed by the idea that "the Church" is not an institution, but an action. For the church to be the Church it must be enacted in relationship to those in need — an understanding that can readily be drawn from Matthew 25. Through gifts to the Special Offerings, we directly support people experiencing hunger, homelessness, thirst, imprisonment, sickness, and deprivation, as well as welcoming the stranger. Learn more about the connection between each of the Special Offerings and Matthew 25 with our new resource.

How are you using your Peace & Global Witness 25%?

Many congregations and mid councils are preparing to take part in the Peace & Global Witness Offering on World Communion Sunday. If you are part of one of these congregations or mid councils, we’d love to hear how you plan to use your retained 25%. For instance, last year First Presbyterian Church of Idaho Falls, Idaho, dedicated their funds to a local emergency shelter for women and children that not only provides temporary housing, but also individualizes support for each family to help them defuse the trauma of homelessness and rebuild a sense of control and empowerment over their own lives. Let us know how you plan to promote the Peace of Christ with your 25% of the Offering by emailing

In partnership with the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program, this a five-week pilgrimage to deepen the pursuit of peace for congregations, small groups, families, and individuals. The reflections for the 36 days of "A Season of Peace" come from a diverse and varied set of voices within our church and illustrate the many times and ways that we are offered, engage in and even challenged by peace. Subscribe to daily reflections that will be delivered directly to your inbox September 1 – October 6 or download the entire collection as a devotional resource.

Support Haitian School Gardens through the Giving Catalog

God is at work in the world, and the Presbyterian Giving Catalog is one way for us to join in. Gifts to the Giving Catalog, such as Haitian School Gardens, are signs of our gratitude: feeding the hungry, comforting the broken-hearted and sharing our faith with young and old. By joining our gifts together, however large or small, we expand our witness to God’s gracious and abundant work in the world. Check out our latest video to learn more about the impact of your gifts!
