Young Adult Volunteer Program

Greetings in the name of the Creator who sustains us and gives us spiritual food for the journey! We are so excited that the 2021–22 YAV class just completed their YAV Virtual Orientation and are now on their way to their respective places of service! What a joyous and celebratory time. We want to give a special thanks to those who were able to visit the YAV Facebook page and view our first-ever virtual commissioning service that took place on Aug. 22. If you missed it, please go to the YAV Facebook page to watch the full service.

Along with our site coordinators and YAV Louisville-based staff, YAVs were able to engage with several Presbyterian Mission Agency employees during orientation, such as Kathryn Threadgill for Bible study, Alex Zareth for spiritual renewal and Ellen Sherby for helping the YAVs redefine mission. YAVs also went through extensive allyship training through Service Never Sleeps.

We ask for special prayers as the YAV class will be journeying today and tomorrow to their respective sites. If you have not already done so, take time to meet the 2021–22 YAV class here by reading their biographies and stay in touch with them throughout their YAV year by reading their blogs. We are grateful for your past support and your faithful commitment to journeying with us on the road ahead. Because of your continued prayers, cards of encouragement and donations, we are finally out of the wilderness.

We invite you to join us on this journey to become a Matthew 25 church.

Jesus calls us to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned and poor. We rejoice how our re-energized faith can unite all Presbyterians for a shared and holy purpose: our common identity to do mission. Over 900 churches and mid councils have accepted the Matthew 25 invitation to help our denomination become a more relevant presence in the world by building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism and eradicating systemic poverty.
